AIR2LAN Partners with Level 3 to Introduce Voice Over Internet Protocol Service

Company Adds Business Voice Offering to its End-to-End Internet Services Portfolio

JACKSON, MS, Sept. 16, 2004 -- AIR2LAN, a leading provider of broadband Internet access and end-to-end Internet services for corporate customers, today announced that it has signed a partner agreement with Level 3 Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:LVLT) to market and sell VoIP services to businesses in the southeastern U.S.

VoIP is the technology used to deliver voice traffic across Internet and private IP networks and is one of the most active areas of telecommunications today. The logic behind VoIP is simple: many businesses would prefer to have one network in and out of their business for reasons ranging from cost effectiveness, ease of manageability, and enhanced productivity. IP telephony allows an enterprise to converge its traditional phone system and newer data network for greater efficiency and reduced expenses.

Under the terms of the agreement, AIR2LAN will be selling Level 3’s business VoIP service as a member of the Level(3)EnabledSM partner program. Level 3’s partner program provides AIR2LAN with access to marketing resources and sales support, including a partner portal, training, demand generation and marketing tools, and aggressive sales incentives.
“AIR2LAN’s broadband Internet customers know the value of broadband for data,” said Mark Rodgers, AIR2LAN CEO. “And now we can offer the same high value and quality of service to meet their local, long distance, and international voice requirements, all over the same network and at very attractive prices.”

“In selecting Level 3 as our VoIP partner, AIR2LAN will be able to offer Level 3’s award-winning hosted IP voice service, (3)ToneSM Business. Designed to work with or replace existing PBX and Key Systems, the service allows enterprises to deploy an array of enhanced voice services, including Class 5 features, universally and seamlessly throughout a single-or multi-site corporate environment, often with operating savings of as much as 40 percent,” said Rodgers.

“Many of the early hurdles of VoIP have been overcome,” said Rodgers. “We now have number portability, so that customers do not have to change their phone or facsimile numbers, 911 functionality, and great system administration tools.” “As a result, corporate customers are really responding to VoIP’s simplicity and cost savings,” Rodgers stated.
A recent Telecom Services market study by Morgan Stanley indicates that VoIP service has been adopted by approximately 30% of businesses in the United States, with large corporation penetration even higher and nearing 50% penetration. VoIP’s rapid adoption by the business community is credited to its lower operating costs, especially long distances, and excellent quality of service.

“Voice service is a natural extension for AIR2LAN,” said Jai Bhagat, AIR2LAN’s Chairman. “We are already working with several companies to deliver this high value service and look forward to a broad rollout of the VoIP service across all of the communities we serve.”

“We are pleased to be working with AIR2LAN on its rollout of (3)Tone Business VoIP service,” said Glenn Russo, senior vice president of Channel Partners for Level 3. “AIR2LAN already serves a large portion of the southeastern U.S. with broadband service and can now bring the benefits of VoIP to their current and prospective customers.”
