Freeliant.com Hopes to Harvest
Internet Rewards
MEMPHIS, TN (September 15, 2000) - Freeliant.com, a Memphis-based
applications service provider, is building a $1 million server farm
in Nashville. The server farm is expected to be up and running by
October 1.
Application services include hosting software and data that businesses
require for their internal operations and give businesses accessibility
to a wide range of applications and services without the time and
expense of purchasing and maintaining them. All the essential hardware
for customers is included in Freeliant's monthly fee, which also pays
for the upgrade and cost of software as well as management of the
software.
The Nashville server farm is co-locating at the Renaissance Application
Facility. It will hold 60 separate mini-servers that use Microsoft's
clustered technology to connect to one another.
"If for some reason a server should experience multiple failures,
there is an online redundant server sitting right next to it that
will pick up its operations," said Eddie Williams, Freeliant's
vice president of business development. Freeliant also has multiple
data lines coming into its facility from different directions to ensure
that if someone slices into one of their lines of communication, other
resources are in place. The company also has fire suppression systems,
generators and daily off-site tape backup storage. "That's how
we guarantee 100% up time," Williams said.
