uMonitor, Inc. Unveils SimpTM Protocol
To Bring Simplicity And Conformity To Aggregation GERMANTOWN, TN (April 24, 2001) - uMonitor, Inc., one of the leading information aggregators has unveiled SIMPTM for information aggregation. uMonitor, Inc. recognized a need for XML based information aggregation from various sources and delivery of aggregated information to partners who want to create value-added services. This is the latest development in uMonitor’s quest to simplify the management and control of Internet information leading to improved productivity for the user. While there are application specific protocols such as OFX, IFX and QIF for financial data, and various XML schemas for industry specific applications there does not exist a standard protocol for a variety of information being gathered by the aggregation industry. uMonitor has defined a Simple Information Management Protocol (SIMPTM) – an XML-based protocol for the purpose of diverse information aggregation and distribution. SIMPTM derives from existing XML-based schemas and expand upon them to include the secure exchange of information over the Internet and private networks among uMonitor information source and information clients. The information being exchanged may be of various types ranging from financial account information like banks, brokerages, or credit cards to other types of information like flight schedules, shipment tracking, schedules, contracts, email, news and weather, etc. SIMPTM also includes the distribution of information aggregated by uMonitor to information clients who use aggregated information to create other services such as financial portfolio analysis.
