Freeliant Announces New CEO and Executive Team

Germantown, TN (July 18, 2001) -- Freeliant today announced the promotion of David W. "Dave" Barnwell, 47, to President and Chief Executive Officer.  Barnwell, formerly Freeliant’s President and Chief Operating Officer, succeeds founder Darren Metz, who serves in the capacity of Chairman of the Board. In his new assignment, Barnwell will focus on day-to-day operations and developing corporate strategies that will guide Freeliant’s continuing growth.

Barnwell joined Freeliant from iXL, Inc., a global business-to-business consulting firm, where he was Managing Partner for the Memphis office. Under his direction, iXL provided web-based learning and e-business solutions to Mid-South corporations.

Prior to his tenure at iXL, Barnwell was employed by FedEx for 24 years. There, as managing director of Worldwide Customer Service Strategic Planning, he directed mission-critical initiatives which have ranked FedEx as a world leader in customer service quality and efficiency. He was a two-time recipient of the FedEx Five Star Leadership Award which celebrated his achievements in the improvement of Call Center operations and customer satisfaction.

In addition, Barnwell serves on the Memphis Chamber of Commerce Board of Advisors, and is a member of the Memphis High Technology Council. He was also a member of the University of Memphis’ E-Commerce Degree Board.

Rounding out Freeliant’s new Executive Team are William C. "Bill" Bucher, and Russell L. "Russ" Grove.

As Chief Financial Officer, Bucher, 45, will oversee accounting, corporate finance, human resources, and risk management. Grove, 41, has joined the company in a new position, Chief Sales Officer, and will direct new business and strategic alliance development, sales and marketing.

Bucher, who holds both Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant credentials, has more than 20 years experience in enterprise financial management. He will leverage his past success in finance and operations to sustain Freeliant’s rapid growth environment.

Before joining Freeliant, Bucher was senior vice president of Finance and Accounting for MedShares, a diversified health care management firm with more than 15,000 employees. Mr. Bucher was also with PricewaterhouseCoopers and with Ernst & Young in financial and management consulting. He earned his Masters of Business Administration from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.

Grove was most recently President and Chief Executive Officer of 3Re, an Internet commerce company that provided logistics and service outsourcing. At ESSC he served as Group Director of business strategy and development and headed up the business development team at Genicom where he grew business from $20m to $175m in four years.Grove served in the United States Marine Corps and is presently affiliated with the National Association of Service Managers and the Association for Services Management International.
